GRANDVIEW -- Supporters of Grandview's official flower are asking for volunteers Saturday to help move 300 plants from the city's 58-year-old rose garden.

City leaders are moving the garden from its current location in Westside Park, tucked behind the swimming pool, to Palacios Parkway near the east entrance of town along Wine Country Road.

The new location will make the flowers more visible and give the city more parking in Westside Park, said Mike Carpenter, parks and recreation director.

Crews have been preparing the new grounds and digging up the plants for relocation. Volunteers will help replant them.

Participants should bring gloves and a shovel at 8:45 a.m. to check in at Palacios Parkway. Parking is available along the north edge of the Safeway parking lot.
