Clara Hunt

Clara Hunt, 86, of Yakima died Saturday at home. Mrs. Hunt was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, and moved to Yakima 55 years ago from Seattle. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Robert Hunt of Seattle; four daughters, Diana Roberts of Las Vegas, Nev., Barbara White and Denise Mauk, both of Yakima, and Marsha Hunt of Brookings, Ore.; a sister, Bertha Macklin; and two brothers, Ike and Julius Sopel, of Canada; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

At her request, no formal services will be held. Arrangements by Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.

 

Winifred Roosendaal-Grove

Winifred Roosendaal-Grove, 93, of Wapato died Sunday. Mrs. Roosendaal-Grove was born in Alberta, Canada. She was the owner and operator of the Gables Motel in Union Gap for more than 30 years.

Survivors include her husband, Elden Grove of Yakima; two daughters, Alyce Larson of Yakima and Ruth Howard of Priest River, Idaho; two sons, Clarence Roosendaal of Grandview and Tom Roosendaal of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Alice Bierlink of Sunnyside; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, also at the funeral home. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden, Wash.

 

Lorraine A. Savala

Lorraine Alta Savala, 88, of Toppenish died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Savala was born in Elbow Woods, N.D.

Survivors include four sons, Larry Carranza, Robert Savala and Pete Savala, all of Toppenish, and Leonard Savala of Yakima; six daughters, Rosie Ramirez, Lupe Miller, Rene Savala and Savanna Savala, all of Yakima, Carol Ortega of Kent, Wash., and Clarice Vasques of California; four brothers, Virgil Whitney of Twin Butts, N.D., Freddie Whitney of Manderie, N.D., Eugene Whitney of Seattle and Vernon Whitney of Monterey, Calif.; two sisters, Martha Garza of Newberg, Ore., and Belva Hoptowit of Toppenish; and numerous grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Brethren Church in Toppenish. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.


Rachel M. Taylor

Rachel M. Taylor, 89, of Yakima died Monday. Mrs. Taylor was born in Kennewick and moved to the Yakima area in 1933. She helped on the family farm and did upholstery.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Taylor of Yakima; a son, Gary Taylor of Kennewick; a daughter, Pam Bruner of Yakima; a sister, Claire Mullenneix of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Hone. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Reservation Community Memorial Park, Wapato.

 

Willie W. Thetford Jr.

Willie Washie Thetford Jr., 79, of Yakima died Saturday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Thetford was born in Yakima. He worked at Del Monte in Toppenish, then for Black Angus in Yakima, from which he retired.

Survivors include two sisters, Colene Brulotte of Yakima and Clara Phillips of Buckley, Ariz.

At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
