Katherine Colyn
Katherine Colyn, 79, of Sunnyside died Friday in Sunnyside.
Mrs. Colyn was born in Wisconsin and moved with her family to Sunnyside in 1949. She worked as a substitute teacher for more than 40 years in the Sunnyside, Mabton and Outlook school districts.
Survivors include her husband, John Colyn; two daughters, Susan Colyn and Mare Bron, both of Sunnyside; two sisters, Edna Bustraan and Marie Bolhuis; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
Robert L. Deal
Robert L. Deal, 85, of Yakima died Thursday at his home.
Mr. Deal was born in Kellogg, Idaho. He worked in education for 40 years throughout the Pacific Northwest, and was superintendent of the Union Gap School District at the time of his retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Deal of Chewelah, Wash., and Stuart Deal of Chincoteague, Va.; two daughters, Sandy Horn of Puyallup, Wash., and Susan Lighthall of Yakima; a sister, Joan Grondahl of Everett, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. A committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane.
