YAKIMA -- A man was rushed to the hospital from a house fire Friday night, city firefighters said.

Firefighters pulled the man from the second floor of a home in the 1200 block of Terrace Street, which roughly parallels Yakima Avenue near 12th Avenue.

He was initially reported as unconscious, but his condition was unknown as he left the scene in an ambulance headed for Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, Battalion Chief Abel Castilleja said.

Firefighters responded shortly before 9:30 p.m. They found smoke coming from the second story, rescued the man and quickly knocked down the fire.

More information about the extent of the fire and its cause was not immediately available at the scene.
