CLE ELUM, Wash. -- An East Wenatchee man was hurting after failing to yield to a pickup at a Cle Elum intersection where the stop sign had been knocked into a snow bank, authorities said.

Charles Butkovich, 78, was treated at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital for injuries to his shoulder and left ear, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.

The crash was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday on State Route 903 just east of the Cle Elum city limits.

Butkovich was northbound on the highway making a left turn as Jordan Sage, 45, of Tonasket, was southbound. Butkovich's Acura MDX car collided with Sage's Chevrolet pickup in the intersection.

No charges were expected against Butkovich.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and intoxicants were not a factor in the accident.
