YAKIMA, Wash. -- A 15-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during a drive-by shooting Friday night in Yakima.
The drive-by occurred about 9 p.m. in the 1400 block of Roosevelt Avenue.
While officers were responding to the call, the victim arrived at a local hospital, according to a news release from the Yakima Police Department.
He told police that he and his brother were walking west on Roosevelt when a vehicle drove by and several shots were fired at them, according to the news release.
The boy was struck in the right leg and received a grazing wound on his left calf. His wounds are not considered life threatening, police said.
His brother was not injured.
Police were looking for an older, four-door, dark-colored vehicle that was last seen fleeing east on Roosevelt.
According to police, the shooting is likely gang-related.
Really? Another gang related shooting in Yakima?? Say it ain't so...
Our local teenagers are being gunned down in neighborhood streets and nobody bats any eye. Why are we spending 35% of our federal budget on the military to fight terrorism in the streets of Baghdad and Kabul?
At least bring the ones training in the canyon and put them, armed and aware, on street corners with orders to return fire.

I wonder why this article got buried so fast. I never saw it yesterday or today. Maybe it is because it is egg on the face of people in charge of Yakima. They did have a top 20 town two days ago. Then they nearly 40th gang shooting.
I think people should hold signs on the corner's of 40th Ave, 16th Ave and 1 St Street. Signs that say ZERO TOLERANCE FOR GANGS. Maybe our higher ups would get the hint. Instead of tolerating it on a weekly basis.
thetruth,
The people running the city are not our higher ups, they are elected officials who have put themselves above the rest...because crime does not impact their beautiful manicured neighborhoods, they don't care!!!! I am not trying to put your comment down at all...all i am saying is that we need to make our elected officials answer to our diceases that are plagueing our streets, and get rids of all those stupid punks who have nothing better to do than run around the streets...how bout a curfew to start with, and then up the ante to hauling them off to some desert spot where they have to fend for themselves.
Really mr. Mayor and all your cronies, you want to say your the city council "well step up and do something about this"!!!
my little brother got shot, but my little brother isn't a gangster at all
Report ViolationThe cops just did their standard prociger they don't care about my little brother. They just want to label it as gang related so they don't have to investigate. They slap gang related on to it so nobody will give a whoot.
