Winter storm watch declared, snow predicted tonight

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima Valley may see its first snow between this afternoon and tomorrow.

A winter storm watch is in effect for the east slopes of the Cascades range, including Naches and Cle Elum. Those areas could receive up to 8 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

The lowlands, including the Yakima and Sunnyside areas, could get between 2 and 4 inches of snow tonight and up to three inches on Tuesday.

A mix of ice, snow or rain is expected throughout the week in the Yakima area, forecasters say.

Daytime temperatures will be in the 30s most days. The forecast daytime high is 40 degrees on Friday.
