YAKIMA, Wash. -- A yard sale to benefit victims of the Nile landslide will be Friday and Saturday at Glenwood Square, 5110 Tieton Drive.

The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Candace Hamilton, county Emergency Medical Services manager, said proceeds from the holiday yard sale will be administered by Assistant Nile Fire Chief Steve Smith for the benefit of residents who lost their homes.

Smith and his wife, Mary, saw their home destroyed by the Oct. 11 landslide. Eight homes were destroyed or damaged when the hillside crashed down and covered State Route 410 and redirected the Naches River.

An account for donations, called the Nile Landslide Fund, also has been established at Yakima Valley Credit Union. Hamilton said the fund has about $250.
