YAKIMA, Wash. -- A man accused of driving off in a truck as a Yakima police officer was trying to arrest him was arraigned Monday on a first-degree assault charge.
Curtis Moore, 22, of Union Gap has been held at the Yakima County jail since the Nov. 19 incident on 10th Avenue south of Washington Avenue. His bail in the assault case was previously set at $100,000.
Officer Geoff Gronewald suffered a concussion and was briefly knocked out as he tried to remove Moore from the truck, which crashed into a nearby house and tipped over onto a car.
Moore was caught nearby.
Gronewald was released from the hospital the next day.
Time to teach this jerk some respect for the law and others. I hope he gets the "full meal deal" for a sentence.
Report ViolationI think there should be an automatic one year jail sentence when idiots do this. No getting out early...12 solid months behind bars. I also think their license should be re-voked for the next year after they finish the jail term. It's time to teach these brain dead flunkies that there are stiff consequences for their stupid behavior!
Report ViolationNope! No such luck! The idiot has a planned release date of January 12, 2010. Just a little slap on the hand for this one! You can look up inmates on the county website.
Report ViolationJoice...
Why does this "NOT" surprise me...Geesh! This is the exact reason why 4 good police officers are being laid to rest today....criminals slip sliding through the justice system. Very discouraging!
unfortunately most of this idiot's family has been in trouble for drugs, theft, assault and domestic violence, etc. they all need to be put in jail with the key's flushed down the drain!! i have a 20 year restraining order against curt's 1st cousin and no longer speak to anyone in this family. GOOD RIDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH!!
