YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Tieton man was listed in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Monday after authorities said he caused a three-vehicle crash Sunday evening on Summitview Avenue.

Three others were taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital from the 7:44 p.m. crash at the intersection of Summitview and Rocky Top Road, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Troopers said the man taken to Harborview, 28-year-old Mario Zarinana Romero, was eastbound on Summitview when his Plymouth Neon crossed the centerline, sideswiped a westbound Honda Prelude and hit a westbound GMC pickup head-on.

The Honda driver, 19-year-old Jamie Gallegos of Tieton, was not hurt, authorities said.

Three occupants from the pickup -- driver Francisco Ponce, 22, of Cowiche and his two passengers, 18-year-old Karina Jimenez and 17-year-old Azucena Jimenez, both of Tieton -- were taken to Memorial Hospital.

Ponce and Karina Jimenez were treated and released; Azucena remained at the hospital Monday in good condition, a spokeswoman said Monday.

Troopers said they did not know whether any of the occupants were wearing seat belts. Intoxicants were suspected, according to a news release.
