Santa breakfast is today
Holy Family Catholic Church, 5315 Tieton Drive in Yakima, is hosting its fifth annual "Santa is Coming to Breakfast."
The event is from 8:30-11 a.m. today.
All interested people are encouraged to bring a camera to take pictures of their kids with Santa.
There will also be a children's raffle, a silent auction and baked goods for sale.
Admission to the breakfast is $7 for everyone 13 and older. Admission for kids 3-12 is $4.

Holiday music will jazz you up
A Night of Christmas Jazz will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Englewood Christian Church, 511 N. 44th Ave., Yakima.
The traditional worship service will
be suspended in order to host a number
of musical pieces by the Joe Brooks Quartet.
The community event will be filled with Christmas tunes as 16 musicians share their talents on French horns, trombones, percussion, piano and more.
The next Jazz Night will be Jan. 31.

Enjoy some holiday laughs
Harvest Community Church in Selah will host comedian Daren Streblow at the "Christmas Comedy Cafe" on Friday.
The event begins at 7 p.m. at the Selah Civic Center.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased after the Sunday church service (which is held at the Civic Center) or at the church office, Tuesday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church office is at 105B S. First St., Selah.
All proceeds will be donated to a local charity.

Recycling will help raise funds
Mount Olive Lutheran Church will be holding a recycling day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church, 7809 Tieton Drive, Yakima.
Newspapers, magazines and aluminum cans are needed.
Proceeds will benefit the Feeding 5000 project, which is being done with Children of the Nations, an agency out of Silverdale, Wash. The Feeding 5000 packaging day for 2010 is April 17.

Enjoy soup, sandwiches
Peace Lutheran Church in Selah will host Wednesday night soup and sandwich suppers followed by an informal worship service.
The dates are Dec. 9 and 16 at 6 p.m. Worship starts at 6:45 p.m.
The annual Christmas program will be at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Dec. 20.

Bel Canto concert is Sunday
Bel Canto's 30th annual Christmas Concert will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Yakima Evangelical Church, 7901 W. Nob Hill Blvd., Yakima.
The theme of this year's concert is "A Holiday Revue."
Bel Canto has been active since it formed in 1952. Performing will be Bel Canto's Choral group, Bel Canto's Ensemble and the 2009 Bel Canto music scholarship winners.
Admission is free. Donations of money and nonperishable food items or clothing will be accepted.
Food, clothing and 50 percent of the cash donations will go to Sunrise Outreach Ministries' extreme weather shelters. The remaining funds will help support music education by providing annual scholarships to area students.

Ecumenical service is Dec. 13
Grace Episcopal Church in Ellensburg will hold an ecumenical service of lessons and carols at 3 p.m. Dec. 13.
Kittitas County clergy will read seasonal scripture and area choirs will sing related anthems. Child care and refreshments will be provided.

It's time for faith and fitness
There will be a faith and fitness night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Yakima Athletic Club.
The faith topic is the exercise of perseverance. The power verse is Hebrews 12:1. This is a free event, but a donation of a can of food is requested. Child care is available for ages 1 to 11.

Go enjoy some 'Treats'
Zillah Community Choir presents the musical "Treats" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Faith Community Church.
This is a free event, but donations will be taken for the Zillah Food Bank.

Latin Mass slated for Dec. 13
Holy Family Catholic Church will have its Latin Mass on Dec. 13 in the chapel.
Following the 1:30 p.m. Mass, the singing of a few advent songs will take place. Hot apple cider and pastries will be provided.

Musical opens Thursday
West Side Church presents the musical "Four Tickets to Christmas" at 7 p.m. Dec. 10-11; 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 12; and 6 p.m. Dec. 13.
Admission is free, but tickets are required. Child care will be provided for children younger than 5.

Walk through this Nativity
Yakima Seventh-day Adventist Church is putting on a walk-through tour Nativity scene that runs from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today and Sunday.
It will be a re-created town of Bethlehem complete with Roman soldiers on horseback, a Jerusalem donkey, a camel, wisemen and others. Guests will be led by guides through the city.
