The Yakima County Cattlemen's Association has elected new officers. They are Ed Campbell, president; Justin Waddington, vice president; Sandy Hull, treasurer; and Cary Campbell, secretary.


Construction

The Building Industry Association of Washington has awarded Kevin Patrick the 2009 Remodeler of the Year award. Patrick, owner of Patrick Construction, is the second Central Washington Home Builders Association member to earn the award.

 

Law

Velikanje Halverson has hired Adam K. Anderson as an associate attorney. Anderson graduated in 2009 from the University of Oregon School of Law, where he was executive editor of the Oregon Law Review. During law school, Anderson was a law clerk for Weatherford, Thompson, Cowgill, Black & Schultz in Albany, Ore., and was a research assistant for professor Michael Moffitt. He is fluent in Spanish and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Spanish translation.


Medical

Central Washington Medical Group has hired Connie Tomada to work at Summitview Family Medicine. Tomada completed her residency at Summa Health System/NEOUCOM, one of the largest health care systems in Ohio. Tomada specializes in internal medicine.

 

Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center has hired Jon Rupert Tomada as a hospitalist. He specializes in internal medicine. He completed his residency at Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio. During his residency, Tomada was one of 17 physicians in the nation to participate in the Education Innovations Project, which allows residents to create medical initiatives to improve health care in their communities.

 

The International College of Dentistry has inducted Mark Koday as a fellow.

Koday, dental director for the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, was nominated by a current fellow and passed a lengthy review process that evaluates a candidate's service to the profession and community. There are about 160 members of the organization in Washington state.

In July, Koday was also granted a fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an honorary dental service organization with about 7,000 members worldwide. Fellowship is by invitation only and is extended to dentists who have been judged by their peers as outstanding leaders in the profession.

 

Real Estate

The National Association of Realtors has granted Lynda A. Hopkins of Lakemont Real Estate a short sales and foreclosure resource certification. The certification is offered to real estate agents who want to help both buyers and sellers navigate the complicated transactions, as demand for professional expertise with distressed sales grows.

The certification program includes training on how to qualify sellers for short sales, negotiate with lenders, protect buyers and limit risk, and provides resources to help agents stay current on national and state-specific information as the market for the distressed properties evolves.
