YAKIMA, Wash. — A Toppenish man died early this morning at a Yakima hospital from injuries suffered after he failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle, the Washington State Patrol reported.
A news release said 65-year-old Rogelio Solis was pronounced dead shortly before 2 a.m. at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
According to the State Patrol, Solis was driving east about 1:45 p.m. Friday on Branch Road in his 2003 Dodge Dakota when he failed to stop at the intersection of Lateral A Road.
His vehicle was struck by a 2004 Ford Explorer, which was southbound on Lateral A Road. The driver of the Explorer, Darrell Lamberton, 63, of Toppenish, and his wife, Ann Lamberton, 64, a passenger in the vehicle, were taken to Toppenish Community Hospital.
Ann Lamberton has been released, while Darrell Lamberton was reported in good condition today.
All three people were wearing seat belts. Troopers said they do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
