Two leadership changes have been announced in the offices of the Catholic Diocese of Yakima.
The Rev. Robert Siler is the new chancellor, and Elvia Gonzalez is the new, part-time vice chancellor.
Siler, 49, who has been chief of staff for Bishop Carlos Sevilla since August 2007, will retain that title, along with moderator of the curia, in addition to assuming the duties of chancellor.
As chancellor, Siler will maintain and safeguard diocesan records and be more responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the staff in Sevilla's office.
Gonzalez, 60, will assist both Sevilla and Siler. A member of St. Mary's Parish in White Swan, she came to work as a secretary for the diocese in May 2007, not long after retiring from the Wapato School District after 35 years of service.
