WAPATO -- A collision at a rural intersection west of Wapato sent three people to the hospital Friday.
The Washington State Patrol said that at 1:45 p.m., Rogelio Solis of Toppenish was driving east on Branch Road in his 2003 Dodge Dakota when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Lateral A Road.
As he drove through the intersection, Solis, 65, was struck by a 2004 Ford Explorer, driven south on Lateral A Road by Darrell Lamberton, 63, of Toppenish, troopers said.
Lamberton and his wife, Ann Lamberton, 64, were taken to Toppenish Community Hospital where they were listed in good condition.
Solis was transported to Yakima Regional Medical and Cardia Center, where he was in critical condition Friday night.
All three people were wearing seat belts. Troopers said they do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
