No lead changes, but two of Yakima County's tightest election races remain just as close after Friday's latest ballot tally.
City Council races in Selah and Sunnyside may be headed for recounts after election results are certified Nov. 24.
In the Selah City Council Position 1 race, John Gawlik led Allen Schmid by five votes, one more than on Monday. Both men are vying for an open seat.
Gawlik, a retired police officer, finished the week's count with 681 votes to 676 for Schmid. That gave Gawlik 49.8 percent of the vote, while Schmid, a former councilman, had 49.4 percent.
The race may result in a recount because the margin is less than one-half percent.
In the Sunnyside City Council District 3 race, motel owner Don Vlieger led homemaker Carol Stone by eight votes. He had a 10-vote lead on Monday.
Vlieger, the challenger and a former councilman, now leads with 662 votes. Stone has 654, leaving a margin of 0.6 percent -- 49.7 percent for Vlieger and 49.1 percent for Stone.
Meanwhile, 17 votes, or 1.2 percent, went to write-in candidates.
In the Toppenish City Council Position 7 race, Christina Kwan had 320 votes to incumbent Mark Oaks' 289. That gives Kwan a 52 percent to 47 percent lead.
In Moxee, challenger Dave Hunter led Councilwoman Maravell Gonsioroski 201 votes to 188, or 51 percent to 48 percent.
