* The Paoli Mejias Quintet mixes Latin jazz with Afro-Cuban rhythms for a sound that's full of energy and might well blow the roof entirely off The Seasons Performance Hall. Mejias, a Latin Grammy nominee who has played with legends including Tito Puente, is not all bluster, though; he has serious jazz chops. Check him out at www.paolimejias.com.

Or see him in person at 7:30 p.m. at The Seasons, 101 N. Naches Ave. Tickets cost $18 and are available at 509-453-1888 or www.theseasonsyakima.com.

* If roots rock and alt-country are more your scene, stop by the Yakima Sports Center for Seattle favorite Westerly. Another band at the vanguard of the Northwest's now well-established Americana revival, Westerly combines influences like The Band and Wilco for a throwback sound that somehow still seems fresh.

The show starts at 9 p.m. at the Sports Center, 214 E. Yakima Ave. There is a $5 cover. For more information, visit www.yakimasportscenter.com or www.westerlymusic.com.

* Guerra's Coffee Co. in Sunnyside continues its work bringing daring, culturally relevant art to the Lower Valley with "The Dead Live On," an exhibition by Pedro de Valdivia. Valdivia's colorful paintings pulse with power and will be accompanied during the opening reception with music by Dominique Villajara.

The reception is from 5-11 p.m. at Guerra's Coffee Co., 1829 S. First St. in Sunnyside. The work will hang there until Dec. 17. For more information, call 509-839-6101.

Saturday, Nov. 21

* Fans of choral music are in for a treat as the Camerata Club Men's Chorus performs its annual concert at the Capitol Theatre. The theme of this year's show is "Sentimental Journey: A Trip Down Memory Lane," and the chorus will be joined by the Central Washington University Men's Choir and the Toppenish High School chorus. The club, which has existed since 1915, provides music scholarships to local students.

The show starts at 7 p.m. at the Capitol, 19 S. Third St. Tickets cost $10 and are available at the theater box office or by calling club President Dick Schut at 509-452-8819.
