Agriculture
The Yakima County Farm Bureau has elected officers and board members for the 2009-2010 year.
Officers are Gene Jenkins, president; Sue Olson, Gail Thorton and Bob St. Hilaire, vice presidents; Heinz Humann, treasurer; and Steve George, secretary.
Board members are Jenkins and Olson, district one; George, Humann and St. Hilaire, district two; Jerri Honeyford and Bob Groeneweg, district three; and Max Fernandez, at-large.
Education
Perry Technical Institute has hired Michael Malaska as department head for its Visual Communication & Graphic Technology Program.
Malaska, who graduated from the program in 2006, returns to Perry from Structure Studios, a 3-D pool and landscape software development company in Las Vegas, where he was a graphic designer and Web master. He also worked as a graphic designer at Smith, Phillips & DiPietro Advertising & Public Relations in Yakima.
Insurance
The American College and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors has awarded Belinda Gayle Gonzalez the Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow professional designation.
The designation marks a commitment to the American College's and NAIFA's Code of Ethics and fosters additional professional development.
To earn the designation, Gonzalez, Farmers Insurance District Manager in Yakima, completed five courses within a 10-course curriculum as well as an ethics course.
New York Life Insurance Co. has named Bob W. Hall as a member of the 2009 President's Council. Hall, a Sunnyside agent, was named to the council for being a leading sales performer.
Wells Fargo Insurance Services has promoted Jedean Corpron to senior vice president. Corpron has worked in the insurance industry for the past 18 years, 13 years at Wells Fargo in Yakima. She was most recently company vice president. Her duties as senior vice president include providing a broad array of insurance services to companies and organizations of all types and sizes.
Medical
Central Washington Family Medicine Residency Program, a service of Community Health of Central Washington, has added Mindy Udell to its faculty. Udell is a graduate of Davis High School, Central Washington University, the University of Washington School of Medicine, and the Central Washington Family Medicine Residency Program.
North Star Lodge recently added Mario Chenal to its staff. Chenal, who has nine years of oncology experience, completed his medical training at Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, his residency in internal medicine at the Hospital San Juan De Dios in Guatemala and an internal medicine internship at St. Vincent Hospital and Healthcare Center in Indiana. Chenal most recently practiced Hematology and Medical Oncology in Kennewick. He is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology.
Cornerstone Medical Clinic has added Lauren Smit as a family practice physician. Smit received her medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo., and completed her residency at the New Hampshire Dartmouth Family Practice Residency program based at Concord Hospital in Concord, N.H.
