SUNNYSIDE -- An armed, masked woman robbed a bank in Sunnyside on Friday morning, according to police.
The woman, described as Hispanic, 5-foot-5 and 120 to 130 pounds, entered the Banner Bank at 911 E. Edison Ave. about 11:30 a.m. wearing black clothes, a blue bandana, black gloves and a yellow surgical mask, according to a police news release.
She gave a teller a note demanding money and displayed a gun, then left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Police have no suspects and ask anyone with information to call 509-836-6200. The FBI is assisting with the investigation.
According to FBI statistics, bank robberies by women are relatively rare.
Less than 2 percent of the suspects in Washington's 153 bank robberies in 2008 were women, according to a report from the bureau's Seattle's office.
