Faith and fitness is tonight at Yakima Athletic Club

There will be a faith and fitness night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Yakima Athletic Club.

The faith topic is Hebrews 12:1. This is a free event, but a donation of one pair of socks is requested. Child care is available for ages 1 to 11.

Ministries leader to speak at Toppenish United Methodist

Corey Greaves will be the guest speaker at the 11 a.m. service Sunday at Toppenish United Methodist Church.

Greaves is the leader of the ministries to Yakama Nation youth and will bring the "Dancing Our Prayers" group. He will share how the group is working to make more productive and meaningful the lives of the youth on the reservation. All are welcome

'Five Practices' runs Fridays at Wesley United Methodist

Wesley United Methodist Church brings "Five Practices Potluck" beginning at 6 p.m. on Fridays through Dec. 11.

The Mindbenders discussion group invites anyone interested to join it as it shifts from a Sunday evening format to a new set of conversations built around the "Five Practices for Fruitful Congregations" by Missouri Bishop Robert Schnase. The Mindbender group is led by retired Rev. Elmer Bingham.

Bring food to share for a 6 p.m. potluck. Book study will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Veteran's banquet is Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Veteran's Banquet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Koehler Hall. Attendees are asked to plan to be seated no later than 6 p.m., for presentation by the Color Guard.

Victor Nourani, principal at Lewis and Clark Middle School in Yakima and a naturalized citizen, will speak about the privileges of living in a free country.

Cost is $10 for veterans and $12 for nonveterans.

Musicians invited to take part in Taize prayer service

St. Michael's Episcopal Church will offer its monthly Taize prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

There will be a rehearsal at 6 p.m. Musicians are encouraged to bring instruments and accompany the meditative singing.

This service is offered the first Sunday evening of each month. (This month was an exception.)

Jewish/Messianic music set for Selah Covenant

Selah Covenant Church will host the musical group The Liberated Wailing Wall at the 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday. This will be a time of Jewish/Messianic worship along with a relevant message for Jews and Gentiles alike.

The Liberated Wailing Wall has recorded 12 albums and toured many parts of the world.

First Presbyterian parenting event scheduled for Nov. 14

First Presbyterian Church will host a Parenting Simulcast Conference from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 14.

Participants will talk about equipping parents to know and serve God; learning together how to experience the beauty of God's design for family; building effective safeguards in the home; instilling Christ-like character in your children; and being salt and light in your family's community.

Tickets are $30 per individual or $50 per couple. Lunch is included.

Holy Redeemer bazaar is scheduled for Nov. 14

Holy Redeemer Catholic Church will hold its fourth annual bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 14.

There will be a large variety of vendors. For lunch there will be homemade turkey noodle soup, beef stew, chili and more. Hourly raffles will also be held.

Holy Trinity Episcopal bazaar includes lunch and dinner

Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Sunnyside will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar at 9 a.m. Nov. 14.

There will be homemade crafts, baked and canned goods, baby items, kitchen accessories, stocking stuffers, pillow cases, raffle tickets and other items. Resident photographer D.L. Jennings will also be there selling photographs.

Lunch will start at 11:30 a.m., with quiche, salad and beverage being served. There will also be an Italian dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Wiley Heights Covenant will show movie on Nov. 14

Wiley Heights Covenant Church will show a half-hour movie titled "At the End of Slavery -- the battle for justice in our time," at 3 p.m. Nov. 14. A discussion will follow. Child care will be provided.
