KITTITAS — The city of Kittitas will receive $742,000 in federal stimulus money to improve its wastewater treatment plant.
Washington Department of Ecology officials said the plant, which serves 1,130 residents, will see an improvement in reliability and performance, which will help protect water quality in nearby Cooke Creek. Of the total, $482,000 is a low-interest loan. The remaining amount is a grant.
The funding was part of an announcement Thursday of $11.4 million in Recovery Act funding for water projects announced by Gov. Chris Gregoire.
