Yakima Herald-Republic

WAPATO -- Pork, chicken and spices form a main dish. Bok choy, pancit noodles and pork lichon gives substance to a soup. Salads and dessert are on hand.

Welcome to the annual Harvest Dinner hosted Sunday by the Filipino-American Community of the Yakima Valley.

Dinner is from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Filipino Hall at 211 W. Second St. Plates cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for children under 10.

Filipino-Americans began hosting the annual dinner -- which is open to the public -- in the 1980s to celebrate to their farming contributions to the Yakima Valley.

This year, commemorative video of past community events will be shown during dinner and the local Batang Wapato dance troupe will also perform during the buffet-style dinner.
