UNION GAP, Wash. -- A Union Gap plastic extruding facility is going under a new name as its parent company tries to unify all the services it offers under one brand.

Filtrona Extrusion, which operates a facility at 2405 S. Third Ave., will now be called Pexco.

The new identity, which was the brand name of the company's medical tubing products, was designed to help the Atlanta-based company emphasize a unified approach for the services the company offers at its seven plants throughout the United States and Mexico, said company spokesman Bill Graulty.

Pexco employs about 200 people at the Union Gap facility, which provides plastic components, such as light diffusers and environmental control systems that are installed on Boeing aircraft.

The new corporate identity will not have any impact on operations at the facility, Graulty said.

"The local management is no different," he said. "The local people are no different. It's (just) part of an entity that has a new name."
