The tan and green metal facade that has adorned the Wilson Building for decades began to come down panel by panel Monday, exposing the building’s original brick exterior to sunlight for the first time since the 1950s. The work is being done by G.H. Moen Construction on behalf of the Capitol Theatre, which tabled plans earlier this year to demolish the building at the corner of Yakima Avenue and Third Street. A spokesman for the theater could not be reached for comment. City officials, however, said the work may be part of an engineering review of the Wilson’s structural integrity. The building is now being considered for renovation as part of a long-term expansion of the theater.
