YAKIMA, Wash. — Flu restrictions go into effect today at both Yakima hospitals.

 Patients will be allowed only two visitors at a time. They  must be healthy and over age 14, according to standards announced by Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, children are more susceptible to both the seasonal flu and H1N1, known as the swine flu, and are more likely than adults to be contagious before they become symptomatic.

The new guidelines will be in effect throughout flu season, which usually lasts through spring.
