Kaelan Nettleship, 11, center left, leans over to take notes while Mitchell Bishop, 12, third from right, shares a laugh with SOAR teacher Danielle Heitman, second from right beside him. The group of students from Selah's sixth-grade SOAR class took a field trip along Wenas Creek, looking for beaver dams and learning about native plants. This class has been coming to the area and tracking beaver dams on the creek since third grade. They marked the location of dams and used a GPS device to note the dam's coordinates as they track the number of dams from year to year.
