The Homeless Network of Yakima County has awarded Becky Morrow, site director of Noah's Ark and founder of Generating Hope in Wapato, an individual 2009 Community Compassion Award. Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center received the organizational award.
The Community Compassion Awards recognize extraordinary contributions toward ending homelessness in Yakima County. According to the Homeless Network, Morrow has worked tirelessly for the past five years to create and maintain local shelters.
Yakima Regional's chief executive, Monte Bostwick, and chief operating officer, Tim Thornell, made it possible to expand the Yakima Red Roof Distribution Center, which stocks items from food to furniture for the homeless. Regional leases the space to the Network for $1 a month.
