Fall Carnival at Church of Nazarene
West Valley Church of the Nazarene will host a Fall Carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The carnival will be in the Family Life Center.
There will be games, prizes, inflatables and lots of candy. Dinner will be available for a charge. The church is at 7109 W. Nob Hill Blvd. Information: 509-966-1550.
Harvest Party at West Side Church
West Side Church will hold a Harvest Party from 6 to 8 p.m. today. This is free family fun for ages 2 through fifth-grade. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Ahtanum Pioneer plans festival
The annual Harvest Festival with Trunk or Treat will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ahtanum Pioneer Church.
Child-friendly costumes are welcome. There will also be games, food, a cake walk, dunk tank, and prizes. The church is at 8500 Ahtanum Road. Information: 509-965-0444.
Trunk or Treat at New Hope church
New Hope Community Church Kids Team will hold a Trunk or Treat Party from 4 to 7 p.m. today
There will be costumes, hot dogs, drinks, music, decorated cars and candy. The church is at 2812 Terrace Heights Drive. Information: 509-452-2673.
Community Presbyterian to serve up turkey
The 75th annual Turkey Dinner at Community Presbyterian Church will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday
Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children (12 and under) and free to children under 2. You can buy tickets from any member or at the door.

Wesley United's seminar on preschoolers
Wesley United Methodist Church's preschool is sponsoring a free seminar on "Building Confidence in Children." It will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the church.
Be prepared to learn how to increase confidence in your child at all ages. Maureen Mould will be the local "Edutainer." She has performed Clown Ministry around the world.

Breakthrough Christian Center will host Pastors Dewitt and Kim Jones as the special guests at the 10 a.m. service Sunday.

Grace Bible Church will host a Trunk or Treat event for the community from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the church parking lot.

Reformation Festival at Grace Lutheran
Grace Lutheran will host a Reformation Festival Service at 4 p.m. Sunday. The church choirs from the following Lutheran churches will sing individual selections, and all the choirs will join in singing "The First Song of Isaiah" -- King of Kings in Kennewick, Redeemer in Yakima, Grace in Zillah and Grace in Yakima.
Visitors are welcome and there will be a reception following the worship service.

Ahtanum Pioneer to hold prayer luncheon
Child Evangelism Fellowship of Yakima will hold a CEF World Day of Prayer Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ahtanum Pioneer Church. There will be food, prayer and praise.

Oktoberfest dinner at Mt. Olive
Mt. Olive Lutheran Church will host an Oktoberfest German dinner at noon on Sunday to benefit Feeding Five Thousand. Donations will be accepted.
Feeding Five Thousand is a feeding program done here in the Yakima Valley and coordinates with Children of the Nations, a relief agency based in Silverdale, Wash. They send packages of rice, lentils, spices, dehydrated vegetables and chicken to Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda and the Dominican Republic. Each meal costs only 25 cents. There were 60,000 meals packed here in Yakima this past spring and sent to Malawi. The hope is to package 100,000 meals in April 2010.

Jewish/Messianic music at Selah Covenant
Selah Covenant Church will host the musical group The Liberated Wailing Wall at the 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services on Nov. 8. This will be a time of Jewish/Messianic worship along with a relevant message for Jews and Gentiles alike.
The Liberated Wailing Wall has recorded 12 albums and toured many parts of the world.

First Presbyterian parenting event Nov. 14
First Presbyterian Church will host a Parenting Simulcast Conference from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 14.
Participants will talk about equipping parents to know and serve God; learning together how to experience the beauty of God's design for family; building effective safeguards in the home; instilling Christ-like character in your children; being salt and light in your family's community.
Tickets are $30 per individual or $50 per couple. Lunch is included.

Memorial Mass is Wednesday at St. Paul
St. Paul Cathedral of Yakima will hold a memorial Mass for deceased bishops, priests and deacons at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 4.
Bishop Carlos Sevilla will be the principal celebrant for the annual memorial Mass, honoring and remembering clergy who have served the people of the Diocese of Yakima.
Then at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, a special Mass will honor all the priests of the Diocese of Yakima. Pope Benedict XVI's proclaimed this being the Year for Priests.
