ELLENSBURG, Wash. — An Ellensburg man was injured in a traffic crash early this morning on Interstate 90 two miles east of Snoqualmie Pass, authorities say.

Lloyd Helland, 46, was taken to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital in Ellensburg for back pain, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.

Helland was headed west about 4:25 a.m. when he lost control of his Chevrolet pickup on the icy roadway and struck a concrete barrier, troopers said.

They said he caused the crash by going too fast for conditions, but no charges were expected, according to the news release.

Helland was wearing a seat belt; he was not suspected of being intoxicated, troopers said.
