WAPATO, Wash. — A 24-year-old Yakima woman was killed early this morning in a two-car crash 10 miles west of Wapato, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Lucille G. Martin died at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, acccording to a patrol news release.
Martin was eight months pregnant; the baby also died, Sgt. Ed McAvoy said.
Martin’s Dodge Neon was struck by a Ford Edge whose driver ran the stop sign at the intersection of Brownstown and Progressive roads about 12:25 a.m., troopers said.
The other driver, 19-year-old Lance Wilson of Harrah, was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, McAvoy said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Intoxicants were not suspected, authorities said.
Troopers continue to investigate to determine whether he will receive a ticket for negligent driving or failing to yield, McAvoy said.
Both cars were destroyed.

and the smaller--lighter--more gas saving cars that are on the road the more this type of accident will involve a death. The governments crash ratings are for the most part--frontal--does nothing for a "T" bone type of accident. If people knew how exposed they are--.

Report Violationare up there!!! Miss you pretty lady!
Report ViolationIsn't there a possibility of a negligent homicide charge is the other driver ran the stop sign resulting in death?
Report ViolationSuch a sad story. You read or hear about one death out that direction every month or so. Maybe it is time to put on flashing red lights on top of the stop signs. Really if that gentleman lives out there, there is no excuse for him to run the stop sign, unless he was racing or something.
