EASTON, Wash. — A Wenatchee man is expected to face a vehicular assault charge after a crash on Interstate 90 Monday evening injured him and his passenger, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Both men were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the crash about 17 miles west of Easton shortly after 6 p.m. They were listed in satisfactory condition Tuesday morning.
Driver Leonel Nava, 29, was being treated for head injuries. Passenger Jose Vargas Moreno, a 29-year-old whose hometown was unknown, suffered a broken arm and collarbone.
Troopers said Nava’s Chevrolet Silverado was eastbound in the left lane when he crossed all three lanes and the right shoulder, rolled the truck and hit a tree. The vehicle came to rest on its top.
Investigators blamed the crash on speed too fast for conditions and said intoxicants were involved.
Vargas Moreno was wearing a seat belt; Nava was not, according to a patrol news release.
The pickup was destroyed.
