WAPATO -- A 24-year-old pregnant woman was killed early Tuesday in a two-car crash 10 miles west of Wapato, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Lucille G. Martin of Yakima died at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, according to a patrol news release.
She was eight months pregnant; the fetus also died, Sgt. Ed McAvoy said.
Martin's Dodge Neon was struck by a Ford Edge whose driver ran the stop sign at the intersection of Brownstown and Progressive roads about 12:25 a.m., troopers said.
The other driver, 19-year-old Lance Wilson of Harrah, was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, McAvoy said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Intoxicants were not suspected, authorities said.
Troopers continue to investigate to determine whether Wilson will receive a ticket for negligent driving or failure to yield, McAvoy said.
Both cars were totaled.
