CLE ELUM, Wash. -- Developers of a massive solar energy project near Cle Elum are hosting an informational meeting Thursday evening for the community at the Cle Elum-Roslyn Middle School.

Howard Trott, managing director of Teanaway Solar Reserve of Kirkland, will discuss how photovoltaic solar works. The event is from 6:30-8 p.m. The school is located at 2690 State Route 903. Refreshments will be served.

The proposed photovoltaic manufacturing and solar power generating plant is expected to create several hundred construction and manufacturing jobs for a total investment of more than $100 million. It is expected to be up and running in 2011.

About 400,000 photovoltaic panels will be assembled at the site and then set up in a large array on 400 acres of land leased from American Forest Land Company of Ellensburg. The panels will be spread across the acreage, broken up by natural vegetation.
