HARRAH -- In an effort to keep equipment free from chlorine vapors, a concrete shed will be erected at the Harrah wastewater treatment plant.

The city uses chlorine tablets to treat its water, and when they dissolve. a vapor goes into the air, said Town Clerk Pat Morrell.

But on Monday night, Town Council members approved spending $4,000 to build a 4-by-4-foot concrete shed to keep tools and other equipment free from the residue caused by the chlorine vapor.

Town Council members also approved some road improvements in town. A stretch of Branch Road, which cuts through town, and Mauch Alley will get new gravel.

Town Council members also were told that the $360,000 project to repave Harrah Road will be completed sometime this week.

The project began last month and put a 2-inch overlay of asphalt on more than a mile-long stretch of Harrah Road.
