Betty Young
Betty Young, 81, of Prosser died Thursday at home. She was born in Buena and graduated from Toppenish High School. In 1958 she moved to Prosser, where she worked for several restaurants, including Ford's Grill and The Golden Rule. She retired from the Barn Restaurant at the age of 75 after 40 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Tyacke and Sheila Rodriguez, both of Prosser; a son, Robert Young of Vale, Ore.; three brothers, Sonny Holter of Moses Lake, Ted Holter and Allen Holter, both of Toppenish; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Prosser Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prosser Funeral Home.
Philip W. Anderson
Philip W. Anderson, 73, of Grandview died Thursday in Sunnyside. He was born in Grandview and attended the Seventh-day Adventist School in Grandview and the Auburn Adventist Academy as well as Walla Walla College. He and his family operated Anderson Motors and Anderson Equipment Co. in Grandview.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Anderson; a son, Don Anderson of Grandview, a daughter, Trish Rogers of Puyallup, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Kathleen Sharley of Issaquah, Wash.; a stepson, Randall Tayon of Bothell, Wash.; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Philip Anderson Sr. of Grandview.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview, which is in charge of arrangements.
Marcile V. Godfrey
Marcile V. Godfrey, 91, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. She was born in Lehigh, Kan., and worked as a dental ceramist.
Survivors include two sons, Richard "Dick" Godfrey of Yakima and Michael Godfrey of Renton, Wash.; two granddaughters and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. the funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel, with concluding services at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Jean Russell
Jean Russell, 78, of Yakima died Friday. She was born in Joplin, Mo., and worked as a hospital admitting clerk in Yakima before retirement.
Survivors include a son, Michael Russell of Sedro Woolley, Wash; two daughters, Susan Moritz and Cynthia McEver, both of Yakima; a brother, Ray Owen of Yakima; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Keith and Keith Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel. Burial will follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
