Yakima Herald-Republic

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Sales agreements, financing options and market statistics are among the topics to be covered at an education workshop for Latino farmers Thursday.

The two-hour meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Rural Community Development Resources Small Business Incubator, 24 S. Third Ave.

The workshop, in partnership with the federal Farm Service Agency, is designed to help Latino farmers and ranchers understand the farm real estate process.

The RCDR Center for Latino Farmers is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to increase participation in USDA programs. One opportunity is a new farm bill that provides additional funding for low-interest loans. The maximum loan amount is $300,000.

The seminar will be conducted in Spanish by a real estate agent and an FSA loan officer. Space is limited. To register, call 509-453-3157.
