Education


The American Osteopathic Association has selected Raul Garcia as one of five finalists for its Mentor of the Year award. Garcia, associate dean at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences, was nominated by students for the national award.

Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences has promoted Mark Taylor from interim dean to dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences, and Anthony Stahelski  from interim dean to dean of the College of Postgraduate Studies.

Banking

U.S. Bank Private Client Group has hired Jean Edwards as vice president and managing director for its investment/trust division in Spokane.

Edwards is responsible for leading a team of trust and investment professionals, including some in Yakima who oversee comprehensive wealth management.

Edwards, who has more than 27 years in the trust and wealth management industry, has a bachelor’s degree from Montana State University and is an alumnus of the American Bankers Association’s National Graduate Trust School in Chicago and the Cannon Trust School in Charlotte, N.C.

Finance

Cornerstone Home Lending, a division of Cornerstone Mortgage Co., has added Kim Monfort as a loan officer and Raquel Cervantes as a processor.

Monfort has more than 35 years of banking experience, most recently at Banner Bank. Cervantes has 15 years of experience working in banking, including time at Yakima Federal Savings and Loan Association and Banner Bank.


Tourism

Travel Leaders recently recognized Sondra and George Wilson, owners of several Travel Leaders travel agencies, including one in Yakima, with its Award of Excellence.

The Wilsons were one of 21 franchisees nationwide to earn the award, which recognizes business growth, use of Travel Leaders resources that improve overall customer experience, and migration to the newly adopted Travel Leaders brand.
