This morning, we have a first for you -- a Shop Talk entry by someone other than Mai Hoang. Yes, Mai is doing fine, but is taking a well-deserved vacation. In her absence, you may see others chipping in over the next week or so.
The first such entry comes from reporter Erin Snelgrove with an update on the Dollar Tree store coming soon to the Orchards Shopping Center:
By next spring, people can do their shopping at the Dollar Tree store in the Orchards Shopping Center at 72nd Avenue and Tieton Drive.
According to Bill Moultray, who manages the property north of West Valley Fitness, construction of a 16,000-square-foot building is planned at 140 S. 72nd Ave. (Everything south of and including West Valley Fitness is owned by Rettner Yakima LLC and managed by westside company MK Properties.)
Moultray said the Dollar Tree signed a 10-year-lease with an option of two, additional 10-year commitments. Building permits are being finalized this week, he said.
The Dollar Tree store will be comprised of 10,000 square feet, allowing four other tenants to have 1,200 to 1,300 square feet of space.
“We’re very excited about it,” Moultray said about the development. “It will make the area come alive out there.”
Dollar Tree operates a store at 703 W. Nob Hill Blvd. in Yakima.
