ZILLAH, Wash. -- City officials are inviting residents to a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday to celebrate the installation of the town's only traffic light.
The 10 a.m. ceremony will be at the intersection where the light is to be installed at First Avenue and Vintage Valley Parkway.
Earlier this year, the City Council approved the $1 million project to erect the traffic light and install sidewalks to accommodate traffic increases expected from the nearby Zillah Lakes housing development and neighboring businesses.
Work to widen the intersection and install sidewalks is complete. The traffic light is expected to arrive in another month. The city has about 2,600 residents.
