YAKIMA, Wash. -- An Everett, Wash., woman died Friday evening when the car in which she was riding ran off a Forest Service road on State Route 410, eight miles west of the Woodshed Restaurant, the Washington State Patrol reported Saturday.
A patrol accident memorandum identified the woman as Nichole Berry, 22.
The accident occurred on Forest Service Road 1603 at 6 p.m. Friday, but was not reported to the patrol until Saturday morning when the other two occupants of the car hiked out to make a report, the patrol said.
The memorandum identified the driver as Patrick Hignard, 44, of Puyallup, Wash. He was treated at the scene for his injuries.
A second passenger, Shannon Sims, 20, of Lynnwood, Wash., was not injured.
The patrol said only Sims was not wearing a seat belt.
According to the memo, Hignard was driving a 1988 Suzuki Samurai southbound on the forest road when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle rolled over.
The accident remains under investigation. It is unknown whether drugs or alocohol played a role in the accident.
