Two injured in I-90 accident

CLE ELUM, Wash. -- Two people were sent to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon.

Douglas L. Chaffee of Yelm was driving a 1999 Honda GL motorcycle east on Interstate 90 about nine miles west of Cle Elum when he lost control and the motorcycle rolled before coming to a rset in the median. Chaffee and a passenger, Kathryn Chaffee of Yelm, were ejected from the vehicle during the accident, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Both Douglas L. Chaffee and Kathryn Chaffee are in serious condition, according to a nursing supervisor.

Officials state that the cause of the accident was likely driver inattention. They also indicate that drugs or alcohol was involved and charges are pending for the driver.
