MATTAWA, Wash. -- A load of apples spilled from a semi-trailer Wednesday near Mattawa, causing a collision with another semi-truck and closing State Route 243 for about two hours while crews cleared the highway.
Raymond Little, 66, of Chelan was hauling a semi-trailer loaded with apples northbound on the highway when he lost his load — which was not secured — and struck Jesse Bolyard, 27, of Coulee City.
Neither driver was injured in the accident, which occurred about noon. The Washington State Patrol said Little would likely be charged with failure to secure a load.
