YAKIMA — Authorities have identified the man killed in a mountain bike crash today as 42-year-old Timothy R. Hager of Yakima.

Yakima County sheriff’s deputies and Coroner Jack Hawkins said Hager’s body was found at 1:18 p.m. at the bottom of a steep canyon in the Terrace Heights area.

Hawkins said foul play is not suspected, but an official determination of the cause of death awaits an autopsy.

Sheriff’s deputies said Hager had just been reported three hours overdue from a ride on his mountain bike when an acquaintance found the body.

The crash site was described as east of Hillcrest Drive in a hilly area popular with mountain bikers and dirt bikers.

Hawkins said friends and family described Hager as an avid mountain biker, who had participated in the past in Gap2Gap.
