CLE ELUM, Wash. -- A Chewelah, Wash., woman was injured Thursday afternoon when her motorcycle hit an elk about five miles west of Cle Elum, authorities said.

Nancy Marie McCormick, 46, was westbound around 1 p.m. on Interstate 90 when she struck an elk in the right lane, according to a Washington State Patrol news release.

She was transported to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital with leg and arm injuries, but hospital officials said late Thursday that she was not listed as a patient there.
