Motorcyclist injured after striking elk near Cle Elum

CLE ELUM, Wash. -- A Chewelah, Wash., woman was injured Thursday afternoon when her motorcycle hit an elk about five miles west of Cle Elum, authorities said.

Nancy Marie McCormick, 46, was westbound around 1 p.m. on Interstate 90 when she struck an elk in the right lane, according to a Washington State Patrol news release.

She was transported to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital with leg and arm injuries, but hospital officials said late Thursday that she was not listed as a patient there.

I'm not an elk expert... but could they be on the move for late summer or early fall? BTW... I love elk jerky and properly tenderized elk steaks.

My son came over White Pass on Wednesday while returning from a fishing trip on the coast, and said he couldn't believe how many Elk he had to slow down for. No deer, just lots of Elk.

You aren't suppose to hunt elk by hitting them with motorcycles. Can't wait till bugling season. Im ready to get a monster bull.
