CLE ELUM, Wash. -- Teanaway Solar Reserve filed an application Wednesday with Kittitas County to build a 75-megawatt solar farm on privately owned timberland about four miles northeast of Cle Elum. The application triggers a county land use and environmental review.

The estimated $300 million project is expected to create 225 construction jobs and 35 permanent jobs when it's completed in 2011, according to the company.

Project leaders also announced that they will donate solar panels to the Cle Elum Senior Center, which was recently destroyed by fire, and the Washington State Horse Park, scheduled to break ground this fall.

The private developer is Teanaway Solar Reserve, led by Howard Trott of Kirkland, Wash., former investment adviser for telecommunications billionaire Craig McCaw of Seattle.
