NEW One Yakima Subway shop opens, two more to come

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The first of the trifecta of Subway sandwich shops has opened at the Westpark Shopping Center on 40th and Summitview avenues.

You might have missed the official opening —the shop has actually been opened since July 31, but with nothing more than a banner, it was hard to tell if it was officially open.

Tony Rizzo, regional manager for Inland Northwest Business Development, confirmed for me today that the new location was indeed open, just without permanent signage. The signs are expected to come in today or tomorrow, he said.

The hours for the new shop is 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The other two Subways are still in progress, Rizzo said. The store proposed for West Valley is tied to the completion of the Wal-Mart Supercenter that will house it. The new store at 6600 Nob Hill Blvd. is scheduled to open by November,

Work on a downtown Yakima location will start when improvements to the Hawkes Building at Second Street and Yakima Avenue are complete, Rizzo said.
