TAMPICO, Wash. -- The bear may still be wondering what hit it.
Yakima County sheriff’s officials say both a bear and a motorcycle operator survived a collision Sunday morning on the North Fork Road outside Tampico.
About 10:30 a.m., a 46-year-old Yakima-area man was riding a motorcycle when he rounded a curve and saw the bear in his lane.
The man tried to avoid the bear, but he lost control of the bike and crashed, deputies said.
He was treated at a local hospital for a rib injury. His name was not released.
“The bear wandered off from the scene. It did not appear to be hurt,” Sgt. Jeff Gillespie said.
