SELAH, Wash. — A 41-year-old Richland man died Thursday afternoon when he jumped from the Fred Redmon Bridge on Interstate 82, authorities said.
Witnesses reported seeing him park a silver Chevrolet Impala on the bridge’s eastbound shoulder before he went over, Yakima County sheriff’s officials said.
Medics traveled on a dirt road below the bridge to confirm the man was dead.
The bridge is about 320 feet above the floor of the Selah Creek drainage.
There's a chemical dependency treatment facility (Sundown Ranch) within a couple miles of that rest stop. Maybe the suspect is linked to one of the patients there. It's a long shot.
