PROSSER, Wash. -- Police are crediting alert residents and a quick response by officers for stopping a potential fight that could have grown.
The incident resulted in the arrests of two people at a Prosser park Tuesday evening, police said today.
A 24-year-old Prosser man was arrested on suspicion of illegal firearms possession and obstructing a police officer. An 18-year-old Prosser resident was arrested on a warrant and on suspicion of possessing marijuana.
Police said in a news release that they responded to the area of EJ Miller Park, near Keene-Riverview Elementary School, after residents reported that 10 to 15 people appeared to be gathering to fight.
Officers from the Grandview Police Department, Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol responded to assist Prosser officers in breaking up the group.
Police said the two arrested men and others involved in the incident are known by authorities to be affiliated with local gangs.
Should have let them kill themselves, then arrested the survivors.
